It’s back to school time and after a few weeks away, I returned to a stack of new matters that were lined up like homework for a child going back to school. The last days of August were quiet, with both offices seeming to be on vacation, but when September 2 arrived, there was a new bustle about both offices. Gone are the summer weddings and days at the beach, replaced by fall weddings (and the influx of prenuptial agreement consultations) and back to school time (with the student loan disbursements and financial aid consultations).
Now that the kids are back to school, the summer schedules of extended visitation with children for the summer are also behind us and many divorcing (and divorced) couples are settling into the school year schedules for their children. Throw in some holidays at the end of September and my inbox is quickly filling up with correspondence regarding minor violations or other small issues that keep us busy when it comes to visitation.
The end of the summer has also brought an uptick in order of protection filings, some of which appear to have been filed as a precursor to the upcoming onslaught of litigation for the fall of 2014.
On the brighter side, as the calendar turned, small businesses are getting ready for back to school season and with the holiday season quickly approaching, there is a definite buzz among those clients whose passion seems to be ignited as the temperature begins to cool.
Throw in the recent technology announcements from Apple and the fall of 2014 is shaping up to be nothing short of entertaining.
